Fresno County parks win reprieve
Tuesday, Feb. 03, 2009
Fresno County will not close its parks to shore up a budget deficit, supervisors decided today.
Instead, the Board of Supervisors directed county officials to come up with other options for saving money in the parks budget. The options include closing some parks in off season and looking at how fees are collected at some parks.
About dozen people spoke against the proposal to close parks, which county officials estimated would save $220,000 in the fiscal year ending June 30, and $1.6 million in the next fiscal year.

What about the aggregate mining proposal for Lost Lake? Wasn't that on the agenda also - as part of the Lost Lake Masterplan?
They didn't end up deciding that one. The Board thought it would be premature.
